For Ordinary, Overseas, and Foreign Members
If you wish to be admitted as an Ordinary Member, Overseas Member, or Foreign Member, and meet the necessary criteria, please follow these steps:
- Application Form: Complete the prescribed application form provided by the Executive Council.
- Proposers: Your application must be proposed and seconded by two existing Members who have held membership for at least five years.
For Trainee Members
To apply as a Trainee Member, ensure your application is supported by:
- Director of the Post Graduate Institute of Medicine: Endorsement required.
- Trainer: Your trainer, who must be a Member, must also support your application.
For Fellows or Honorary Fellows
To apply as a Fellow or Honorary Fellow, your application must include:
- Application Form: Complete the form prescribed by the Executive Council.
- Proposers: Two Fellow Members or two Honorary Fellow Members, depending on the category, must propose and second your application.
Application Consideration
When considering applications, the Executive Council will focus on the best interests of the Society and its Members.
Application Review Process
- Circulation: Your application will be circulated among Council Members and discussed at the next Executive Council Meeting.
- Objections: Any objections to your enrolment must be presented orally at the meeting or in writing to the President, who will table the objections.
Voting on Applications
- No Objections: If there are no objections, the Executive Council will vote to enrol you as a member. A majority vote in your favor is required. In case of a tie, the President will have the casting vote.
- With Objections: If there are objections, the Executive Council will vote on whether to accept or reject them:
- Accepted Objections: If the objections are accepted, your application will be rejected.
- Rejected Objections: If the objections are rejected, the Council will proceed with a vote as per the standard process.
Final Decision
The Executive Council's decision on your application is final and conclusive. They reserve the right to accept or reject any application at their discretion, without providing reasons for their decision.
