Sri Lanka Society of Nephrology

Call For Oration

The Sri Lanka Society of Nephrology (SLSON) invites applications for the prestigious “Vidyajothi Professor Rezvi Sheriff Oration” at the upcoming Annual Academic Sessions which will be held from 20th – 22nd November 2025. The oration is the most prestigious event of the academic sessions of the society and recognizes significant work done in the field of nephrology or related field of work.

Guidelines for submission

  • Oration should be on a topic related to kidney diseases.
  • The oration should be based on original work carried out by the applicant.
  • The content should not have been presented before as an oration, keynote address or a presidential address in a similar format.
  • The oration should not exceed 45 minutes.
  • Submitting oration should be written in full. The IMRAD format is suggested unless the content requires otherwise.
  • The oration should be typed in A4 sized paper, using font type Times New Roman, font size 12 and double line spacing. Harvard or Vancouver system of referencing can be used.

The submission should include

  • Two (2) digital copies of the oration script should be submitted. Of these, one (1) copy should be with the applicant details and one (1) copy without the details.
  • Curriculum Vitae of the applicant
  • A cover letter should indicate the work and contributions made to the advancement of the field of nephrology. It should also state that the oration is based on original work and that the script has not been presented as an oration, keynote address or a presidential address. An explanation of why the applicant believes that the work is of sufficient merit to deserve an oration.
    A separate sheet stating the list of the original papers/publications on which the Oration is based.
  • Letter of Declaration
    1. Letter of Declaration should consist of the following;
    2. In multi-author works, applicant informing co-authors about the submission.
    3. Declaration by the applicant that co-authors have no objections to the submission.
    4. Provide details of the applicant’s contributions to the manuscript (design, data collection, analysis, writing).
    5. Declaration if any part of the work was previously presented as an Oration.
    6. Declaration of financial or other conflicts of interest.
    7. In areas of service development or expansion, relevant stakeholders should be duly informed and their consent taken for submission of oration.
