The Sri Lanka Society of Nephrology calls for applications for the SLSON Research Grant.
Applications from the Ordinary members of the SLSON and nephrology trainees who are enrolled in the postgraduate institute of medicine, University of Colombo will be considered.
The grant will be awarded for Local research in the field of nephrology.
- The start day for the grant will be January 1st 2027.
The grant will be awarded under two categories:
- Research grant for members of SLSON - Rs 1.5 million (single grant)
- Research grant for nephrology trainees - Rs 0.5 million (single grant)
The application should consist of
- A single A4 page summary of the research proposal
- The detailed project proposal (must include background and justification, objectives, study design and methodology, ethical considerations, proposed timeline (Gantt chart), references and detailed budget of the project)
- Ethical clearance letter (if available)
- Curriculum vitae of the principal investigator
- A cover letter
If the total budget for the study exceeds the value of the grant the applicant must
- Provide the budget for the entire study and indicate how the funds from the grant will be used.
- Indicate how the remaining funds will be obtained.
The applications will be assessed by a panel of judges for suitability for the grants. The decision of the panel of judges will be final.
The grant will be awarded to each successful applicant following the submission of:
- A copy of the ethical clearance letter from a recognized Research Ethics Committee.
- Signed grant agreement with the SLSON
The grant will be disbursed in instalments over a 1-year period subject to satisfactory submission of progress reports.
Successful applicants will need to
- Publish their results in a peer-reviewed journal
- Acknowledge the SLSON in the publication
A successful applicant will need to provide evidence of successful fulfilment of the conditions listed here to be eligible for the grant again and will not be eligible until at least 3 years have lapsed from the receipt of the grant.
An applicant may only make one submission per call.
